Voter Resources

The Easy Voter Guide is posted on Newsline for the Blind, a service of the California State Library. It is for any person who is blind or visually impaired, or any person with a physical disability that impacts their ability to use standard print.

The Newsline service, which is accessed via a standard telephone, gives the caller immediate access to the Easy Voter Guide , which is "read" to the caller through synthetic computer speech. Using the buttons on the telephone, the caller can easily navigate through the publication, skipping forward or back through the text of the articles. Call Newsline toll free in California at 1-800-952-5666 .

Wearing Campaign Gear to the Polls and Neighborhood Canvassing Rules

The Easy Voter Guide Project has recently received many inquiries about wearing campaign buttons and shirts to the polls. In the State of California , it is illegal to wear any type of campaign clothing or paraphernalia into the polling place or to campaign within 100 feet of the polling place.

Also, if you are participating in a neighborhood canvassing effort, please remember that you cannot put election materials (even educational materials such as the Easy Voter Guide ) in private mailboxes intended for U.S. Mail—it's the law!
